In The Economics of Public Choice, Patrick McNutt evaluates a range of public choice concepts including rent-seeking, voting and voter behavior, the growth of government and bureaucracy. This authoritative text offers a refreshing insight into traditional public choice territory, using diagrammatic exposition coupled with insightful commentary. Each chapter develops its arguments from the first principles to a comprehensive review of the main issues. A final chapter on democracy reexamines the Downsian question: why bother to vote?

(In this accessible yet rigorous textbook, Patrick McNutt ...)
In this accessible yet rigorous textbook, Patrick McNutt presents a clear and refreshing approach to a wide range of topics in law, economics and antitrust. The issues covered include duty and obligation, contracting, liability, property rights, efficient entry, compensation, oligopoly pricing, issues in strategic antitrust and merger analysis. (The joint use of both economic and legal reasoning is wel...)
The joint use of both economic and legal reasoning is well supported by the carefully selected examples and case studies, which clarify the issues under review. This, together with the application of simple game theory language to explain the complex legal and economic concepts and to assemble the arguments throughout each of the chapters, provides an innovative exposition of the political economy of law. The book discusses a range of issues from legal, economic and ethical platforms, with a reference to the intuitive argument, the debate between ethics and law, and case precedent. Topics explored include a discussion on the role of law and ethics, tort liability, property rights and neo-Walrasian antitrust.

The purpose of this book is to provide a framework for analyzing business strategy, and its principal focus is the signaling of management type in the market-as-game. Drawing upon basic arguments in both game theory and the economics of strategy, Game Embedded Strategy distills these discussions into a cohesive setting called 'Framework Tn=3'. Using case materials and real-time examples, McNutt discusses the three supporting pillars of game embedded strategy (GEMS) - management type, technology and time.

(Humans are curious by nature - we like to observe people ...)
Humans are curious by nature - we like to observe people in action - and we do not only like to play games but also to win. With its central focus on observing management behaviour to predict likely future actions, this book explores the various ways and means of predicting competitor reaction by examining the actions and reactions of competing firms. The approach adopted in this book is based on the premise that individual behaviour follows a line of action and reaction, thus creating a predictable pattern that resembles a set of moves akin to a game of chess. This pattern is termed a critical time line.
