Career
Born in Thomastown, County, Lannon first excelled at hurling in his youth. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 1981 championship.
At club level Lannon played with Thomastown.
Lannon retired from inter-county hurling following "s defeat of Cork in the 1983 All-Ireland final.
