English was previously the Chief Technology Officer and cofounder of Kayak.com in Concord, Massachusetts. KAYAK announced it was being acquired by Priceline in November 2012. English is a part-time instructor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management, where he teaches entrepreneurship.
English served in 2008–2009 as the Chief Technology Director of the Division of Social Medicine and Health Inequality at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, leading the creation of GHDonline community of global health workers.
English was the President of Boston Light Software, an ecommerce company he co-founded in Arlington, Massachusetts in 1998 and sold to Intuit in 1999, where English became Intuit’s Vice President of Technology. English received a Bachelor in Computer Science from UMass Boston in 1987, an Mississippi in Computer Science in 1989. English graduated from Boston Latin School in 1982.

English is the founder of “GetHuman.com” which seeks to restore personal contact in customer service. English is the founder of the World Xiangqi League, an online Chinese chess community created in 1997. English won 2008 Chief Technology Officer of the Year from Mass Technology Leadership Council and 2012 New England Entrepreneur of the Year from Ernst and Young.
