He died of heart failure while laying under a tree, homeless, in northern California in 2003. Paul Foster were the original Acid Test Artists. He was the artist who drew the Acid Test Posters, as well as the Acid Test diploma.
Paul owned the nightclub called the Offstage, which was where the band the Grateful Dead formed and played their first show, along with Jefferson Airplane, Odetta, and Janis Joplin.
