He was a part of the Olympic Development Program (soccer) for several years as a youth. He was a two-time All-State athlete in both football and soccer. During his four-year career, Savich kicked 39 field goals (with a long of 52 yards against Ball State University), and has a career total of 208 points.
Savich"s 39 field goals and 91 PAT"s rank as 5th and 6th, respectively, in Carnegie Mellon University history.
Peoria Pirates
Signed with the Pirates on December 11, 2002. Savich played 5 games for Peoria, under coach Bruce Cowdrey.
The Pirates released him, among 10 other players, on May 5, 2003. Peoria was 1-4 at the time of his release.
Quad Cities Steamwheelers
On May 16, 2003 he became the first kicker in Steamwheeler history to convert all of his PATs (7-7) (minimum 7 attempts).
Savich improved the kicking game for the Steamweelers, who finished 14-2 and a National Conference regular season title. The "Wheelers were knocked out of the playoffs in the first round of the 2003 AF2 playoffs by The Arkansas Twisters.
