Career
Paul Snape, who helped lead the University of Michigan to the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Men"s Soccer Championship College Cup Final Four, was named men’s soccer head coach at Butler University in January 2011. He became the sixth men’s head coach in Butler’s soccer history. The former Michigan Associate Head Coach is in his fourth year with the Bulldogs, and he’s guided the Bulldogs through three different conferences.
Snape led the Bulldogs from the Horizon League to the Atlantic 10 Conference and then to the Big East Conference.
In his first season at Butler, Snape guided a young Butler team to a 7–8–3 record. His first collegiate victory as a head coach came against his former team, the Michigan Wolverines men"s soccer, in the opening game of the 2011 Michigan Invitational.
Prior to the match, he received an National Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament ring in a special ceremony honoring Michigan’s Final Four team In 2012, Snape led the Bulldogs to a 5–8–5 record against a schedule that included seven National Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament teams, and last season Butler recorded an 11–8–1 mark while competing in the BIG EAST. The Bulldogs" 2013 season ended with an overtime loss in the semifinals of the BIG EAST Championship.
Snape joined Butler’s staff after spending eight seasons at Michigan.
He served as an assistant coach for the Wolverines for six seasons, before being promoted to Associate Head Coach in 2009. He helped lead Michigan to four National Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament appearances, including a berth in the 2003 Elite Eight and this year’s Final Four appearance. Michigan finished the 2010 season with a school-record 17–5–3 final ledger and its first-ever Big Ten Tournament title.
In addition to his coaching experience at Michigan, Snape served for one season as head coach of the Michigan Buckinghamshire in the USL Premier Development League.
He guided the team to the Elite Eight of the league in 2005. He’s also served as an assistant coach for the Michigan Olympic Development Program (2001-2007) and as a youth coach for the Michigan Rush South Carolina (2006-2008), Vardar South Carolina United States. Soccer Development Academy(2003, 2009-2010), Birmingham Bloomfield South Carolina (2002-2006) and Bloomfield Force South Carolina (1999–2002).
Snape came to Michigan following a seven-year playing career with the Michigan Buckinghamshire. He helped lead the Buckinghamshire to five divisional titles (1997–2000, 2003) and a regional crown in 1997.

Snape was selected to the PDL All-League Team in 1997 and 2000. A 2000 graduate of Oakland University, Snape was a four-year letterwinner and two-year men’s soccer captain (1999 & 2000) for the Grizzlies. He was a three-time Mid-Continent Conference first team All-League selection and a three-time All-Region performer, 1998–2000.
Following his senior season, he was selected to play in the 2001 Senior Bowl.
He formerly lived in Liverpool, England, and trained at the Liverpool Academy as a youth.
