Mr. Teske was born in Poughkeepsie, New York, United States, on March 18, 1958. He is a son of Emil Walter and Jean (Dahley) Teske.
Paul Teske was a graduate of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, obtaining his Bachelor of Arts (with highest honors) in 1980. He also completed his studies at Princeton University, earning Master of Public Administration in 1982 and Doctor of Philosophy in 1989.
In 1983 Mr. Teske resumed his office as research associate at New York City Partnership, Inc., New York City. He was a strategic planner and senior economist at New York City Transit Authority, New York City, since 1984.
Paul Teske joined the staff of State University of New York at Stony Brook, holding the posts of an assistant professor, 1988-1993, associate professor of political science since 1993, director of graduate studies since 1996. Later he became an affiliated research fellow of Columbia University.
In 1991 he joined the staff of Business School Institute for Tele-Information. He was a speaker at colleges and universities, including Brown University, Harvard University, Duke University, California Institute of Technology, University of Pennsylvania, and Georgetown University and also a consultant to Teleport Communications Group, U.S. Office of Technology Assessment, and Aspen Institute.
He was a contributor to books, including Private Networks, Public Objectives, American Science and Technology Policy, Handbook of Interest Groups etc. Mr. Teske also is known to be a contributor of articles and reviews to periodicals, including International Journal of Public Administration, American Political Science Review, Public Choice, Policy Studies Journal, Publius: Journal of Federalism, and Urban Affairs Quarterly.
