(What really happened in the early days of our nation? How...)
What really happened in the early days of our nation? How was it possible for white settlers to march across the entire continent, inexorably claiming Native American lands for themselves? Who made it happen, and why? This gripping book tells America’s story from a new perspective, chronicling the adventures of our forefathers and showing how a legacy of repeated betrayals became the bedrock on which the republic was built.

Paul VanDevelder attended University of Montana.
After twelve years as a photographer covering conflicts, natural disasters, and tragedies all over the world and writing thousands of pithy, clever cutlines, Paul VanDevelder believes he had the stories and the skills to truly become a writer.
In 1993, when Sierra magazine asked VanDevelder to cover emerging conflicts between Native American tribes, state governments, and extraction industries, his investigation commenced an adventure that spanned ten years and resulted in "Coyote Warrior: One Man, Three Tribes, and the Trial That Forged a Nation" that was published in 2004. In 2009, he wrote "Savages and Scoundrels: The Untold Story of America's Road to Empire Through Indian Territory".
Paul has also collaborated on many projects with producer Raymond Chavez, including as writer and co-producer for the feature documentary film "Journey to Medicine Wheel" in 1996 and has been a contributor to periodicals and journals.
