(This book was originally published prior to 1923, and rep...)
This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.

He was born at Hainichen near Jena on the 14th of November 1775. He was the eldest son of Christina Krause and lawyer Johann Anselm Feuerbach, who were not married.
He received his early education at Frankfort on Main, whither his family had removed soon after his birth.
At the age of sixteen, however, he ran away from home, and, going to Jena, was helped by relations there to study at the university.
After receiving his doctorate in law, he founded, together with Grohlmann and Almedingen a periodically published "Library of Criminal Law" . In 1801 he was appointed professor at the University of Jena; Soon afterwards he moved to the University of Kiel where he consistently occupied the departments of law of the natural, criminal, state and Roman; the largest number of his scientific research and works date to this period. Two years later he moved to Bavaria, having received a chair at the University of Landshut. In 1805 he was instructed to draft a Bavarian criminal code; At the same time he received a high post in the Bavarian Ministry of Justice. In 1821, he went to France for the nearest study of French legislation.
