Career

Youngest member Admiral Byrd’s Antarctic Expedition, chosen after tests among 600,000 Boy Scouts of America. In charge of biological and zoological work of expedition, bringing back specimens of penguins, seals for American Museum of Natural History, 1928-1930, head of biological department Admiral Byrd’s 2d expedition, 1933-1935, and member Byrd’s personal staff In charge erecting and equipping the base in which Byrd lived alone 4 1/2 months in 1934.
