Paul Douglas Quay, American Oceanography educator. Achievements include determination of ocean mixing rates by using radiocarbon distribution, modeling global carbon dioxide and radiocarbondistributions in nature studying the geochemistry of lakes, rivers and marine systems using naturally occurring radioisotopes, chemical oceanography. Recipient Newcomb Cleveland prize American Association for the Advancement of Science, 1991-1992.
