1895 established first Siberian unit for the production of diphtheria vaccine at Tomsk University. 1906 helped to organize Tomsk Bacteriological Institute, which he directed for 25 years and which provided specialist training for microbiologists and physicians from outlying districts. From 1910 associate professor, from 1919 professor, Tomsk University.
Subsequently professor, Tomsk Institute of Postgraduate Medical Training, which later moved to Novosibirsk, where he was in charge of the Chair of Microbiology. Specialized in the physiology of bacteria and the production of vaccines and sera. Did research on antibodies and changes in the blood of immunized animals, for which he found 20 criteria.
