KUCHIYAK, Pavel was born on March 17, 1897 in village Kuyum in Oirotia, now Gorno-Altay Oblast. Son of a shaman.
Attended a parochial school for two years. 1929 graduate Communist University of Eastern Workers in Moscow.
After establishment of Soviet regime in the Altay became secretary, rural welfare comt. Taught in Soviet Party school. Directed itinerant red yurt.
1938-1943 head Literature Section, Gorno-Altai Theater. 1928 first work published. Recorded epics and translated them into Russian.
Knew Russian lit well and translated it into his native language. Acted in plays; performed in concerts as storyteller and musician.
Religion is bad because it divides people, and is a cause of conflict and war.
The emphasis on peaceful coexistence doesn’t mean that the Soviet Union accepted a static world with clear lines. Socialism is inevitable and the "correlations of forces" were moving towards socialism.
