Soldiering and political work in Civil War in Ukraine. Comissar of brigade, then assistant div commander. 1937-1941 military attache in various countries.
1941-1942 military instructor. Summer 1942 commander, 5th Tank Army. From late 1942 commander, 3rd Tank Army (from May 1943 3rd Guards Tank Army).
Took part in Don, Dnieper, liberation of Ukraine and Pland, and Berlin and Prague operations. 1945-1947 first deputy commander, 1947-1948 commander, armored and mechanized troops. Deputy, USSR Supreme Soviet of 1946 convocation.
