Background
Pavel Weinberg was born on March 25, 1846, in Odessa, Ukraine. He was born in the family of a notary - Isai Semenovich Weinberg (1791-1865) and Rosa Abramovna Weinberg. Parents, being of Jewish origin, converted to Orthodoxy in 1830. He was the brother of Peter I Weinberg.
Education
Pavel Weinberg studied at the 2nd Odessa Gymnasium.
Career
Pavel Weinberg served on the railway, played in the Odessa Russian Theater in the troupe of N.K. Miloslavsky. Since the late 1860s he began to act as a reader, quickly acquired both in the capital and in the province a big name, as a storyteller of scenes from Jewish, Russian, and Armenian life. Pavel Weinberg published scenes and jokes from his repertoire in Entertainment and other humorous magazines.
In 1870 Pavel Weinberg released a separate edition of Scenes from Jewish Life. In the reviews, it was noted that the author seeks to "amuse, make the reader laugh with that buffoonish laugh, in which there is no thought, no purpose, not even a sign of any content", however, this is what turned out to be attractive to the public. The three-thousandth edition of the book was sold in 2 months.
Later Pavel Weinberg released New Scenes and Jokes from Jewish, Armenian, Greek, German and Russian Life, New Stories and Scenes, The Complete Collection of Stories, and Scenes. In 1880, he was accepted into the troupe of the Alexandrindrovsky theater, playing small distinctive roles. A few years later he left the theater, toured again, performing his scenes with constant success. Since 1891 he was seriously ill, was bedridden.
