Career
He was the second son of Joseph and Anne Bracken. 1914: Elected Captain by the men of the Tullamore Company Irish Volunteers
1915: P.H. Pearse appoints Bracken Commandant of the Athlone Brigade area
1916: Bracken fires first shots on March 20, in his hometown of Tullamore, County Offaly
1916: Bracken commands the critical Government Printing Office garrison outpost at O"Connell Bridge, Dublin during the Easter Rising
1920: Irish Republican Army headquarters appoints Bracken first Commandant of Number.1 and Number.2 Offaly Irish Republican Army Brigades.
