He maintains the National Records in Cuban Swimming for Free Style 400 meters (1990), 1,500 meters (1991) and Free Style Relay 800 meters (1991). In the 15th Central American and Caribbean Games held in Santiago de los Caballeros in the Dominican Republic from June 24 to July 5, 1986, at the age of 16 yrs, he obtained two medals.
