1926 graduated Odessa Music and Drama Institute.
While student gave concerts as soloist and first violinist in symphony orchestra under direction of Professor A. Glazunov. 1930 won 1st place at All-Ukrainia Violin Competition. Since 1934 lecturer, Moscow Conservatory.
1935 won first place at Leningrad All-Union Competition for Musical Performers and 2nd place at International Wicniawski Violin Competition, Warsaw. 1935-1936 gave concerts in Baltic states, Poland, Turkey and Sweden. 1937 won 1st prize at Brussels International E. Ysaye Violin Competition.
Subsequently gave concerts in Great Britain, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. After World War II gave annual concerts in Europe, Asia and Latin America. 1951 member, Jury, Brussels International E. Ysaye Violin Competition.
1953 member, Jury, Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud International Competition for Violinists and Pianists, Paris. 1946-1957 gave concert in USSR, on theme “The Development of the Violin Concerto”. His repertoire includes concertos by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, Chausson, Walton, Sibelius, Glazunov, Tchaikovsky, Myaskovsky, Prokofiev, Khachaturyan, Taneev, etc.
