Resided at Chicago, and Saint Louis, and went to San Francisco, 1886.
Aided in organizing United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, and elected member Executive Board, 1904. Organizer, 1894, and president Building Trades Council of San Francisco 29 consecutive years. Organizer, and president State Building Trades Council of California 22 consecutive years.
Organizer, and president Building Trades Temple Association of San Francisco 15 years, running cojointly with the City and State building trades councils.
Resigned these three positions in 1923. Was member Freeholders Convention that framed charter of San Francisco and one of first civil service commissioner under said charter.
Union Labor candidate for mayor of San Francisco, 1909, and elected for term of 2 years. Engaged in investment banking business.
