Background

Her father died when she was eight, and her mother moved her to the country where she was home-schooled, first by her mother, and then by tutors.

Career

She wrote constantly from a young age, and at the age of 17 she was published in Lippincott"s magazine. Poems in other periodicals followed and eventually led to published colllections of poems.
