Traveled in Europe, 2 years, made pedestrian tour of Italy, Austria, Greece, Switzerland, France and England, studied art Developed superior molding material for life masks. Gained fame with bust of Lafayette.
Other busts include: A. Hamilton, John Adams, John Q. Adams, Charles F. Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Van Buren, De Witt Clinton, Henry Clay.
Busts exhibited at Philadelphia Centennial, 1876. Also a painter and poet.
Married Eliza Derrick, 1810, at least 8 children including Alburtis.
