Studied under Doctorate. West. Tryon, of Hartford, and George de Forest Brush and George Bridgman, New New York Prix de Rome in mural painting (Lazarus scholar 1909-1912). Fellow American Academy in Rome, 1911.
He taught for four years at the Beaux Arts Institute of Design, and spent summers at the MacDowell Colony. He taught at the Otis Institute, in 1921, as a founding faculty member at the Chouinard Art Institute, and at the University of Southern California School of Architecture.
