She was (2006-2010) Chair of the Department of Computer Science at Cornell and she is currently serving as the Associate Dean of the College of Computing and Information Science. She was (2004-2009) editor-in-Chief of Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics Journal on Computing, and is currently the Economics and Computation area editor of the Journal of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) as well as on the Board of Editors of Theory of Computing. Tardos"s research interest is algorithms.
Her work focuses on the design and analysis of efficient methods for combinatorial optimization problems on graphs or networks.
She has done some work on network flow algorithms like approximation algorithms for network flows, cut, and clustering problems. Her recent work focuses on algorithmic game theory and simple auctions.
