Career
Twitchell was an All-Star in 1973 for the last place Phillies when he had a 2.50 European Research Area, good for 3rd in the league. In the All-Star game, he pitched one scoreless inning. Twitchell was also noted for giving up the home run that got Hank Aaron into 2nd place all-time (649).
He attended Wilson High School in Portland, Oregon, the same high school as Dale Murphy.
Twitchell was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. His career record was 48–65 in 282 games (133 starts).
He had a 3.98 European Research Area with 1063 innings pitched.
