In 2010 Morton fought Tynemouth in Tyne and Wear, being defeated by Labour"s Alan Campbell. Her career began as an executive officer in Her Majesty diplomatic service at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office before working in the business sector, in sales and marketing. She made her maiden speech on the 3 June 2015.
She sits on both the Regulatory Reform Select Committee and the International Development Select Committee.
She is the Chair of the APPG for Sustainable Development Goals, as well as taking an active interest in several other APPG"son Her Private Members bill, National Health Service (Charitable Trusts, etc) Bill, has completed its stages in the House of Commons, and is now in the House of Lords.
