Career
Countess Vilma Hugonnai was the fifth child of a Count. She studied Medicine in Zurich, receiving her degree in 1879. She became a care assistant to a Professor at a medical school.
When Vilma returned to Hungary as a woman she could not begin her career as a physician because the Hungarian administration refused to recognize her qualification, thus she had to work as a midwife.
In 1897 the Hungarian authorities at last accepted her degree and she could start her own practice.
