Career
Currently, he is the head coach of the French League team Strasbourg IG, as well as the head coach of the senior men"s French national basketball team Collet first became a head coach in 2000, after a 13-year career as a basketball player in the Ligue Nationale de Basketball. He coached French squad Le Mans for six years, between the 2000-2001 and 2006-2007 seasons, leading the team to a 2006 French League championship and the French Cup in 2004, as well as the Semaine des As in 2006.
He returned to the French League in the 2008-2009 season, where he promptly led ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne to the French League championship, their first since 2002.
Collet was hired as the senior men"s French national basketball team coach in March 2009, following a disappointing qualifying run towards the EuroBasket 2009, that forced the team to qualify through the additional qualifying round. After successfully leading the French national team through the additional qualifying round, as the 16th and final EuroBasket qualifier, he coached the national team for the first time at EuroBasket 2009.
He led the team to a fifth-place finish, which was good enough to qualify for the 2010 International Basketball Federation World Championship. He coached France to the first gold medal of its history at Eurobasket 2013 in Slovenia.
