Career
He coached from 1970 to 1976. He led them to their first Olympic victory in the 1972 Olympics (they beat United States of America in the controversial final game on a last second shot by Alexander Belov). He also coached them to a victory in the 1974 World Championship, bronze medal in the 1976 Olympics, victories in the 1971 European Championship and 1970 World University Games, silver medals in the 1975 European Championship and 1973 World University Games and bronze medals in the 1973 European Championship.
On club level, he coached Spartak Leningrad from 1967 to 1995.
He was enshrined in the in 2007.
