He was the recipient of the 1987 American Society of Mechanical Engineers Rufus Oldenburger Medal and the 1988 AACC"s Richard East. Bellman Control Heritage Award. He was born on January 15, 1920, and received his Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in Saint Louis in 1941 and his Mechanical Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1951. Evans worked as an engineer at several companies, including General Electric, Rockwell International, and Ford Aeronautic Company.
He published a book named "Control System Dynamics" with McGraw-Hill in 1954.
He had four children.
