He played college basketball for the University of South Carolina Upstate. As a senior, he averaged 16 points per game and picked up All-District and All-State Tournament honors. On October 31, 2015, Greene was selected by the Delaware 87ers in the third round of the 2015 National Basketball Association Development League Draft.
Greene attended Bearden High School where he was named the East Tennessee Player of the Year after leading Bearden to a 35-3 overall record and a spot in the Tennessee Class American Automobile Association State Championship Game. Greene played college basketball for the University of South Carolina Upstate where he was selected as the 2015 Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year after finishing the regular season ranked first in the conference in scoring with 23.4 points per game in league games and scoring more than 20 points at least once against every A-Sun opponent.
