She then represented Great Britain in the Mission Universe 2010 pageant, held on 23 August 2010 in Las Vegas, United States. She did not place in the competition"s Top 15. Contrary to popular belief this was not the first time that two Colombian women (Hoyos-Martínez and Colombia"s Natalia Navarro) participated in the pageant"s history because the contestants that represented Colombia (Valerie Domínguez) and Germany in the 2006 edition were both of Colombian ancestry. Hoyos-Martinez was born to Colombian parents.
