Stockman is the son of author Jayne Anne Phillips and physician Mark Stockman.

He graduated from Concord Academy in 2003. Stockman graduated from New York University"s Tisch School of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama in 2007 after studying in the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, the Experimental Theatre Wing, and the International Theatre hop in Amsterdam.
In his senior year of high school, Stockman adapted The Perks of Being a Wallflower for the stage and directed it as part of California"s Directors Seminar. Roles included Claude in Hair at Theater Mitu in 2006 and Dionysus in The Bacchae in 2005. He also performed in the September 2007 40th anniversary concert production at the Delacorte Theater, followed by the July to September 2008 Hair revival at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park.
Stockman performed as The Representative of Jingletown in the production of American Idiot on Broadway after appearing in workshops and the original Berkeley, California run.American Idiot premiered at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre on September 4, 2009.
The show"s run ended on November 15, 2009 and transferred to the Saint James Theatre on Broadway, where it began previews March 24, 2010 and officially opened on April 20, 2010. Stockman left the show on January 30, 2011.
From April 5 to May 26, 2012, Stockman starred as "Danny" in the Office-Broadway play An Early History of Fire by David Rabe, produced by The New Group. Stockman starred in a reading of Veritas by Stan Richardson on June 16, 2011.
In May, 2009, he starred as Benvolio in a reading/workshop production of The Last Goodbye, a rock musical adaptation of Romeo and Juliet featuring the songs of the late Jeff Buckley.
Other readings and workshops include The Elephant Song, The Black Crook, and 36 Views. He has also performed at Personal 122 and Louisiana MaMa Experimental Theatre Club. Louisiana MaMa credits include Too Fast Waltz in 2007.
Regional credits include The Witching Hour (2005) and Fairy Garden at the Williamstown Theatre Festival.
Stockman has made guest appearances on Inside Amy Schumer, Blue Bloods, 30 Rock, Cupid, Nurse Jackie, Computer Society of India: Crime Scene Investigation, Private Practice, and Music Television"s I Just Want My Pants Back. His film appearances include the adaptation of Stephen King"s A Good Marriage, And So lieutenant Goes (2014), and Home.
Stockman also starred as Tom in the 2008 musical short The Steam-Room Crooner and played Mike Kenney in the 2003 film Freebox. Stockman provided backup vocals for "Cinema", a track from Declan Bennett"s 2011 album, record:BREAKUP. He also works as a DJ in New York City under the name DJ Theocracy.
Theo Stockman will appear as "Tim Price" in the upcoming "American Psycho" musical on Broadway in 2016.
While there, he was an active member of the theatre program, performing as Nick Bottom in A Midsummer Night"s Dream and multiple characters in The Laramie Project. Stockman was a cast member in the 2009 Broadway revival of Hair, performing as a Member of the Tribe, Hubert, the Principal, and John Wilkes Booth, while also understudying Dad.
