Sir John Burn Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists FRCPCH FMedSci is a British Professor of Clinical Genetics at Newcastle University.
Education
Burn was born and raised in North East England. He was educated at Barnard Castle Grammar School, now Teesdale School and Newcastle University Medical School from 1976 to 1980 from which he was awarded a Bachelor of Medical Sciences degree in 1973, a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 1976 and a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1990.
Career
He is medical director and head of the Institute of Human Genetics, and lead clinician for the National Health Service North East. From 1989 to 2004, Burn led the Northern Genetics Service team
