Career

In 1919 he was one of the main chekists in Ukraine during the events of Russian Civil War. Zapadny is also considered as one of founders of Football Club Dynamo Kyiv in 1927-1928. In August 8, 1937 he was arrested and executed on February 5, 1938.

Zapadny had three siblings (2 brothers, 1 sister) who also were agents of Komitet Gosudarstvennoy Bezopasnosti (Committee for State Security).
