He completed Bachelor of Economics and Political Science in 1959 and Master of Political Science in 1961 from University of Dhaka.
He is the former Deputy Governor of the Bangladesh Bank (Central Bank of Bangladesh) and Chairman of the National Board of Revenue. He was the Director of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited also. He positioned 2nd and 1st in the exams respectively.
He took part in most of the important student activisms for Islamic cause.
