On 24 July 2014, O'Connor won her first major medals with silver in the 200m freestyle and in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay, at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The next day, she added a third with silver in the 100m butterfly and on July 27 she won gold in the 200m individual medley in a new British and Commonwealth Games record time. On 5 July 2015, O'Connor won her first world title, as part of the world record breaking Great Britain mixed medley relay team.
