Miller played high school basketball at Blackhawk High School, where he was coached by his father, John. From 1998 to 2002, Archie played for North Carolina State. He finished his career there with an 84.6% free-throw percentage, a 42.9 three-point field goal percentage, and 218 three-pointers, which were all marks that ranked in the top 10 in school history.
He graduated from North Carolina State in 2002.
From there, Archie became the head coach at the University of Dayton in 2011-2012.
