Career
He became widely known as a soap maker, and the manufactory he built in Jersey City developed into one of the largest establishments of its kind in the world. He was also prominent in philanthropic work. Samuel Colgate was ranked to manager of Colgate soap and perfumes® after the death of his father, William Colgate, owner of the company. later, Samuel Colgate renamed the company " Colgate and Colorado."
