Career
He represented Pictou in the Canadian House of Commons from 1872 to 1874 and from 1878 to 1882 as a Liberal-Conservative member. Doull was a lieutenant-colonel for the Pictou County militia. He served as treasurer for the county for 15 years and was a director of the Pictou Bank.
Doull was defeated in 1874 but then ran successfully for a federal seat in 1878.
In 1888, he moved to Craven, Northwest Territories.
