Career
A small player by hockey standards, Sheehan made up for his physical deficits by leading the NSJHL minor league with 64 goals his rookie year. He was drafted in the third round, 32nd overall by the Montreal Canadiens and went on to play parts of three seasons in the National Hockey League. In 1972 Sheehan joined the New York Raiders of the WHA, who obtained his WHA rights from the New England Whalers. In 1975-1976 he returned to the National Hockey League with the Chicago Black Hawks and would transfer between the National Hockey League and AHL several times until his retirement in 1983.
Overall, in 15 games, he had 4 goals and 3 assists.
He also incurred 8 penalty minutes. Following 310 National Hockey League games, Sheehan recorded 48 goals and 63 assists for 111 points.
Sheehan represented the United States at the 1981 Ice Hockey World Championship tournament.
