Career
Freitas played college football at Oregon State University and was drafted in the third round of the 1967 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was selected to the Pro Bowl after the 1972 season. Freitas is currently the Chancellor at the University of Hawaii–West Oahu (UHWO).
In November 2010, he was instrumental in negotiating a move of the UH football team from the Western Athletic Conference to the Mountain West Conference, which is to take place before the 2012 season.
Freitas is a former chancellor of Hawaii Community College in Hilo, Hawaii.
