Aguilar was born in Los Angeles, California to a father from El Salvador and a mother from Honduras.

He attended John Marshall High School and played his first two years of college basketball for Colorado State.
He played college basketball for Colorado State and Cal State Dominguez Hills. In 2009, Aguilar transferred to California State University, Dominguez Hills. Aguilar started nine games in 39 played in two years at Dominguez Hills, averaging 4.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest.
As a senior, Aguilar helped the Toros set five records that included a 16–1 start, defeating the Number.
1 team in the nation, a Number. Between November and December of 2011, Aguilar played six games in the National Basketball Association Development League for the Bakersfield Jam, averaging 2.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
On September 27, 2012, Aguilar signed with the Los Angeles Lakers for training camp. He was waived by the team on October 20, 2012 prior to the start of the regular season.
On January 26, 2013, Aguilar signed with Venezuelan club Trotamundos de Carabobo.
He was later released by the club on February 8 after appearing in just one game. In November 2013, Aguilar spent training camp with the Bakersfield Jam, but did not make the 2013-2014 opening night roster. On January 21, 2014, Aguilar signed with the Carolina Pee Dee Vipers of the Premier Basketball League.
However, six days later, he was released by the club after he sustained a stress fracture in his left foot.
On March 13, 2016, Aguilar was acquired by the Texas Legends of the National Basketball Association Development League. Four days later, he made his debut for the Legends in a 107–105 loss to the Bakersfield Jam, recording one rebound in six minutes off the bench.
