Career
Ragnar plays as centre back for Football Club Krasnodar in the Russian Premier League. He also plays for the Iceland national team IFK Göteborg
After playing for Fylkir, he joined Swedish club IFK Göteborg in 2006.
After his magnificent first season he has constantly been linked to several big clubs in Ligue 1, Serie A, Bundesliga and Premier League.
IFK Göteborg"s sports director, Håkan Mild has also commented that the club could get a transfer fee around €3 million for the talented defender. During his second season the defender played 29 games (of 30) as the team finished in 3rd place.

On May 30, 2011, Ragnar Sigurðsson signed a four-year-long contract with Danish champions F.C. Copenhagen. The fee is believed to be around 5.5 million DKK. Football Club Krasnodar
On 23 January 2014, Russian Football Premier League club Football Club Krasnodar announced signing Ragnar Sigurðsson on a two-and-a-half year deal with option for another year.
He has played for the Icelandic under-21 team and was called up for the Iceland national team for the first time in May 2007.
His first match for the national team was in a friendly against Canada in August 2007. On 16 November 2014, Ragnar scored his first goal in a 1–2 away Euro 2016 qualifier defeat to the Czechoslovakian Republic. International goal
