Kauzer has competed at two Summer Olympics. Four years later at the London games he was one of the top favorites for gold in the K-1 event. He made the final after recording the fastest time in the semifinal, but after a disappointing run in the final he could only finish in 6th place.
He was also the Slovenian flag-bearer at these games.
He lives in Hrastnik.
He won three medals at the International Coach Federation Canoe Slalom World Championships with two golds (K-1: 2009, 2011) and a bronze (K-1 team: 2005). He won the overall World Cup title in 2009, 2011 and 2015 in K-1. At the European Championships he has won a total of 8 medals (5 golds, 2 silvers and 1 bronze).
