He is the current host of Sea Rescue. Gutman was born on December 5, 1977, in Westfield, New Jersey, whose parents are Paul and Sharon. He has an older sister Rachel.

Gutman graduated from Williams College in 1999.

Gutman started at American Broadcasting Company News in 2008 appearing on various programs and platforms for the network, while stationed in Miami, Florida. In 2014, he took over the hosting duties for Sea Rescue from the departed Sam Champion.
