Career
Mike Watt was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the 1994 National Hockey League Entry Draft in the second round, 34th overall. He spent the next three seasons playing in the National Collegiate Athletic Association for Michigan State University. He joined the Oilers for the 1997-1998 season in which he played in 14 games, scoring only one goal.
During the off-season, on 18 June 1998, the Oilers traded him to the New York Islanders for goaltender Éric Fichaud.
After bouncing between the American Hockey League"s Lowell Lock Monsters and the National Hockey League"s Islanders for a couple of seasons, he was traded to the Nashville Predators for Mikhail Chernov on May 24, 2001. Watt played only 18 games for the Predators in 2000-2001, scoring one goal.
He did not play again in the National Hockey League until he suited up for five games for the Carolina Hurricanes in 2002-2003. In 2003, he moved to Europe, spending two seasons in the Russian Super League with SKA Saint St. Petersburg and one season in Sweden"s Elitserien with Leksands IF. He returned to North America in 2006, signing for the Muskegon Fury.
He also played one game with the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL.
Watts spent 2007-2008 as player/assistant coach for the Muskegon Fury.
He was named the head coach for West Catholic High School in May 2009.
He will start the head coaching job at Arrowhead High School in 2010.
