Mohannad is the 2012 Asian Young Football player of the Year, and earlier in the same year, he was chosen as 2012 AFC U-19 Championship"s Most Valuable Player. Mohannad has the ability to score with each feet in equal accuracy. Mohannad Abdul-Raheem has been called by Iraq coach Hakeem Shaker to represent Iraq first team in the upcoming 2013 Gulf Cup of Nations replacing Iraq super star Younis Mahmoud, but stating that he would like to play alongside Younis Mahmoud. On January 18, 2013 his wishes came true when he played alongside Younis Mahmoud in the Gulf Cup of Nations finale against United Arab Emirates national football team
Mohannad assisted the equalizer goal to Younis Mahmoud. however, the match ended 1-2 in the extra time for United Arab Emirates. On February 1, 2013 Iraq played an unofficial training match with Malaysia.
Abdulraheem is physically strong and aggressive lone striker with good skills, tactical intelligence, and very confident in going at opponents with numerical superiority.
