In the 2014 European Parliament election, he was elected one of two MEPs on Panellinion Socialistikon Kinema (Panhellenic Socialist Movement)"s Elia list.
In 1997 Androulakis joined the socialist Panhellenic Camp of Militant Students (PASP) and in 1999 became the secretary of PASP in the Thracian city of Xanthi.
In 2014, he was elected Member of the European Parliament. In 2001 he became a member of the Central Council of Panellinion Socialistikon Kinema (Panhellenic Socialist Movement) Youth and in 2008 he was appointed member of the National Council of Panellinion Socialistikon Kinema (Panhellenic Socialist Movement). On 4 March 2013 he was elected member of the central political committee of Panellinion Socialistikon Kinema (Panhellenic Socialist Movement), which on its first session on 14 March 2013 appointed him the new political secretary. He affiliates with the parliamentary group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (South&Doctorate) and is member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, and member of the Delegation for relations with the People"s Republic of China.
