Career
Sterling began his career with Birmingham City, and was released in the 2012 summer. Shortly after he moved to Midland Football Alliance side Alvechurch, and scored 11 goals in his first season. In September 2013 Sterling moved to Southern League side Redditch United.
He appeared regularly with the side, also scoring 13 goals during the whole campaign.
In June 2014 Sterling went on a trial at Cheltenham Town. After impressing in the pre-season friendlies he signed a six-month deal with the Robins on 21 July.
On 12 August 2014 Sterling made his professional debut, coming on as a late substitute in a 0–2 Football League Cup away loss against Brighton & Hove Albion. On 16 December he signed extended deal to stay at Cheltenham till the summer 2016.
On 9 December 2015 it was announced that his contract will not be renewed at the end of the season.
On 4 February Sterling joined National League North side Gloucester City on loan until the end of the season.
