He graduated from Eastern Mediterranean University Music Department in 2002. Ersan has successfully completed the Instrumental Conducting Course Masterclass run by Professor Peter Stark from the Royal College of Music in July 2014.

Oytun Ersan joined the International Nicosia Municipality Orchestra as a musician at the age of 15 where he continues to work today. He then gained his Master of Arts degree in Special Education from the Near East University in North Cyprus. He has also received one-on-one training from Joe Hubbard who also taught world famous bass players such as Pino Palladino, Paul Turner (Jamiroquai), Mike Mondsir (Billy Cobham) and Dave Swift (Jools Holland).
Ersan has collaborated with a wide variety of artists including Okan Ersan, Professor
Rex Richardson, Wycliffe Gordon, Çağrı Sertel, Thomas Wolff, Savvas Savva, Tony Jones, Ola Onabule, Lloyd Chisholm, Paul Roos and Andrey Alpatov. He is an official artist endorser for some top profile companies like Fodera Guitars (United States of America), GruvGear (United States of America) and MarkBass (Information Technology).
In May 2015, he released his debut Jazz Fusion album entitled East Meets West by Oytun Ersan Project as seen in Bass Musician Magazine. Oytun Ersan Project performed at various international festivals and venues till date including International Famagusta Art and Culture Festival and International Bellapais Music Festival.
As of 2015 Ersan is working on his second Jazz Fusion album which will feature some special guests like Greg Howe on electric guitar, Wycliffe Gordon on trombone and Professor
Rex Richardson on trompet and flugelhorn.
